A concert program from 1980, when D.L. Byron opened up for Johnny Winter at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey, on April 5, 1980:

"Listen To The Heartbeat" was the first single from the album This Day And Age, and it sold well enough in the New York City area that it hit the charts. (These charts serviced the discount stores in the New York City area, including Caldor, where I bought most of my 45s. The charts were compiled every two weeks by Alpha Distributing and usually had nifty ads on the back.)
April 14, 1980 - song is #48 [use "enlarge" button that appears on the screen when you hold the cursor over the picture]

April 28, 1980 - song is #58 ["enlarge"]
The single didn't do well enough to get any play on the New York top 40 stations, and here's what it was up against on New York's WABC:

This page had been posted for less than a week, when I heard from D.L. Byron himself! (Sent 6 March 2003)
Dear Ron,
I don't know if I should shout at you or thank you.

D.L., Thank you for being a good sport and taking this page in the spirit in which it is intended - a tribute to a overlooked pop gem. Best of luck to you and the music you continue to make. - Ron G
